Yesterday Sheffield celebrated Gay Pride at Endcliffe Park. Although the rain refused to stay away for long, Sheffield’s LGBT community, family and friends equally refused to have their spirits dampened – a bit like the jolly chaps watching the Queen on her Jubilee boat trip down the Thames this afternoon.
The park, for the first time fenced off with a £3 entry fee, was filled with stalls, dance and performance tents, family activities, food, cupcakes and music. Lucy Spraggan played the main stage, Madame Zucchini the Alt Stage and Uncovered the Cabaret Stage whilst the dance stage had people pulling shapes all afternoon long. As the event closed at 7 pm with a tune from Swedish House Mafia, the crowd was on fire. A big well done to the organisers.
The celebrations continued later with South Yorkshire’s finest gay club night Climax before many, me included, took to Dempsey’s nightclub, dancing long into the early morning. What a happy Pride it was.
The dance stage at Sheffield pride was popular. My photography skills poor.
