You may or you may not know this already but once a week I write the immensly popular MidWeekMusic section for Climax Online. Here I feature my favourite tunes that week (admittedly ultimately catered to a young and party loving LGBT crowd but still!) and this week I’m so happy with my choice that I want to share my findings with you. Big emphasis on the final pick; Beatrice Eli, who I’ve been admiring for some time but who today completely blew my mind. Girls, girls, girls…
It’s that time again! Time for MidWeek Music and this week’s very finest tunes. Enjoy…
IGGY AZALEA X CHARLI XCX – FANCY
Self-acclaimed bad bitch and Aussie/Miami rapper Iggy Azalea teams up with British goth pop princess Charli XCX in a massive tune that comes with a video based on the classic teen movie Clueless. This makes me very happy.
ACE WILDER – BUSY DOING NOTHIN’
Ace Wilder came second in Sweden’s biggest music competition last week (the one picking the entry for The Eurovision Song Contest, believe it or not). Does that mean we can steal her for a UK entry that actually stands a chance of winning? Either way, her recession defying anthem Busy Doing Nothin’ deserves adding to anyone’s weekend playlist.
LITTLE MIX – WORD UP
Little Mix take on Cameo/Korn classic Word Up, creating their own rendition of the classic tune for Sport Relief. I’m not sure they succeed in winning me over with this faux-rock song and overly cheesy video BUT it features Louis Smith and Melanie C so…you know.
BEATRICE ELI – GIRLS
Lesbian Anthem Alert! “Girls” is possibly the best lesbian coming out song I ever heard. Is Beatrice Eli even coming out? Maybe she was always out? I don’t know and I don’t care, all I know is that Beatrice Eli is AMAZING and this song RULES.
