My girlfriend isn’t just a beautiful woman and a clever phd student, she’s also the author of “Lez be honest: isn’t it time we said bye to biphobia?” – one of three cover stories to be highlighted on DIVA Magazine’s website this month. I am very proud, to say the least.
In this piece, which you can read an extract of here, Cyd talks about biphobia and bisexual erasure in pop culture. Listing examples from YouTube, the L Word and Orange Is The New Black she relates it all back to her research on queer women’s emancipation in the 1920s. It’s fascinating stuff – and shocking to think that ideas of bisexuals being lesser people still exist today, almost a century on.
The issue, featuring the lovely Samira Wiley on the cover, is on sale in all good newsagents (WH Smith and Tesco are usually a good call) so hurry up and get it!
